Crisis Assistance
The Parish offers several areas of assistance for households facing crisis situations: - Food:Low-income households are eligible to receive emergency food assistance through the Food Pantry program. Food is donated by local businesses, such as Food Lion, and church & civic groups. Households received 3-5 days worth of food. The Parish also receives government food commodities through its membership in the Second Harvest Food Bank.
- Clothing:The community has access to low-priced clothing, toys and household goods through Parish's Two Hearts Thrift Store. The Store collects donations from the community and resells the items at low prices. Households that have suffered a fire or flood are eligible for free clothing and gift certificates are available.
- Utilities:Through grant funding from Duke Energy, the Parish assists low-income households with cooling in the summer and heating in the winter.
